Berry Almond Scones



Ingredients

2 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/4 cup butter, chilled and cut into pieces
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup dried berries of your choice (blueberries, cherries, cranberries)
1/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Lightly grease a baking sheet.
In mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar and baking powder.
Using a pastry blender, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in 2/3 of the 1/2 cup of milk, the egg and the almond extract.
Add the berries and almonds and stir until just combined.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll or pat it into a disc of medium thickness.
Cut the disc into 10 wedges.




Place on baking sheet and brush the top with the remaining milk.
Bake until lightly browned, about 20 minutes.
Best served warm.
