At a restaurant called Sauce in Victoria, British Columbia, we enjoyed this small plate with a glass of red wine. It was a perfect pairing.
Ingredients
Thin sliced baguette toast
Red Onion Jam
Blue Cheese
Thinly Sliced smoked cheddar cheese
Sliced green apple
Red grapes
Place a portion of each on a plate and serve with red wine.
Instruction
For red onion jam, thinly slice 4 red onions. Saute in 1 Tablespoon oil. When softened, add 1/3 cup sugar and continue to saute over medium-low heat. Add 2/3 cup balsamic vinegar and cook on low heat for about 1 hour until mixture is jam-like. Salt and pepper to taste.
